Bozho! I’m a native, disabled, artist from Michigan, where I live with my husband, joey, and my son, baba, and our four pets. My current passions are creating custom home relief prints, as well as other art & textile work, learning my native Potawatomi language, and making time for my health and family fun.
The name of my shop, a.mess.of.photos, comes from a time when my life was much more messy and complicated and photography was my main passion. I still feel the name is an accurate description of who I am as a person: creative and messy. Printmaking is also a messy process for me and that’s what draws me in. It forces me to embrace, and find strategies to mitigate, the mess and my need for control.
My art is mostly about the little things in life that make me happy. It’s also about the process: getting in the zone, escaping the stress of living with chronic mental/physical illness, and the joy of a completed idea. I am currently exploring my artistic voice, and how to best use my art, and intersecting identities, to support the things that I care about. Migwetth, mary.
